If you're chasing the soul of drumming, all roads lead to New Orleans. This is the city where the drum kit as we know it was born, where jazz and funk first took shape and where rhythm has never been just a musical element – it's the living pulse woven over centuries by African, Caribbean, French and Creole traditions, merging into that magical heartbeat we call groove. For this EZX, we traveled there to capture an all-encompassing drum library under the supervision of one of the city's foremost experts on drumming, gear and groove: Terence Higgins (Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Dirty Dozen Brass Band).

From crushing power to the finest detail, drums in modern and progressive metal require a full spectrum of sound. For this EZX, we've teamed up with Jay Postones of TesseracT to deliver just that - and more. Featuring three unique kits, each carefully curated to deliver its own unique sound, it offers a wide palette of powerful drum parts. All kits were recorded in the Back Stage Studios room in Nashville by engineer Steve Blackmon. The room, reflective enough to give the drums a sing-song sound, yet dense enough to prevent natural reverb from drowning out detail, was the perfect choice to realize the overall concept of this EZX: brutally dark, powerful, and energetic, yet clearly articulate and dynamic drums for modern progressive metal.

What's a selector kit you ask!? It's a bunch of different one-shots hidden behind one pad, with a macro knob assigned to each pad so you can cycle through drums to arrange a drum-kit JUST the way you want it! In this pack you get a complete collection of LoFi, Dance, Electronic and DnB ready selector kits with more than 300 sounds!

This sample pack contains audio files specially produced for psytrance and forest producers in particular. It contains the kick and bass used in my productions, as well as deep atmospheres created in detail to make your track more magical and fascinating.

For our 13th sample pack, we put together sounds derived from Yamaha’s AN200 groovebox, a machine of its era combining an analog modelling synth engine, a PCM drum module and sequencer.

Two tube-driven spring reverb units were extensively sampled for this library. The first has a degree of notoriety (I'm calling it “Depth Xpander”) and was marketed for use in home stereo systems, and people even had them in their cars, to apply some reverb to the music they played on their system. It's mono and is said to have been used by King Tubby in his dub mixes. The unit itself is really just a tube amp for driving a spring tank. The second unit (a JVC Nivico) was aimed at the same market, but actually contains the springs inside the case, with the tube amp. This one is stereo.
