The problem when mixing tracks from different sources is that they are often recorded at different levels and it is a tedious task to level out a mix properly so you can hear everything and know what you need to start with, as well as set up the gain structure of a mix to not be clipping everything and then struggle with no headroom for mastering. So Audio Vitamins have developed Structure, a plugin that takes out the tedious task of using meter and trim plugins or applying gain reduction directly on the files to get a solid foundation level for mixing.

Stochas is a revolutionary new type of step sequencer that has a unique randomisation engine. Designed to work either in mono or polyphonic modes the engine will select from a set of user inputted notes and take into consideration a bias weighting set for each, this means Stochas can be used to create evolving melodies, rich sounding string and synth sections, unique bass lines and even chaotic yet looping drum patterns, perfect for live and recorded performances. Popularized in funk songs of the 60s and 70s, the break was reimagined by the hip hop stylings of DJs and b-boys who sampled the sounds in their sets. Dancefloors in the UK soon caught on, with chopped up breaks as the sped-up backbone of jungle tracks. Then came Autonomic, footwork, and the shifting 80/160 and 85/170 tempos of slow/fast, embraced by artists rejecting the machismo of drum and bass. A new form of music — post jungle — emerged, a synergetic fusion of all that came before.

Gatey Watey is a lightweight but clever gate plugin. Unlike traditional gates, Gatey Watey lets you choose which frequencies get attenuated when the level drops below the threshold, making for a much more natural sounding gate. It works great for getting rid of drum bleed without cutting off your drums, or de-noising electric guitars without cutting off the sustain. Basically, it’s how all gates should work, but for some reason, they don’t.

The final plugin to hit your mix will almost always be a limiter, and using the right limiter for the job is crucial to getting the impact your music deserves. The Velo is a brickwall limiter for maximizing loudness, that features different options to influence coloration and transient preservation. As Velo’s adaptive release makes the plug-in react quickly to the incoming signal, it a well-suited limiter for mastering any style of rhythmical music with pronounced transients, and for bus-processing beats, drums and rhythmical bass, guitar and synth parts.
