Ultimate Workflow We've all been there: you browse through hundreds of kicks, but nothing really works. One has a nice transient, another one a cool punch in the face and the third has the perfect boomy tail. But once you layer them the result is a weak muddy mess: layering kicks is rarely successful.

There we go everyone, the last pack of the year! This time I have 50 pads and atmosphere samples that would work very well for dark Drum & Bass tunes, or some dark Ambient like what I did on stream not too long ago. Most of these were made during a sound design afternoon with Omnisphere plus some post processing and some of these have been run through PaulxStretch VST.

First sample pack of the year, this one has a whole bunch of random sounds thrown in that I've taken from old projects that will probably never get finished anyways. I've also been working on a rack update, which will come out soon as well!

This time I prepared a folder with noise samples I made for my own use, these are long sustained (mostly perfect looping) samples that were made by running various drum sounds through a long reverb with a freeze function. I then edited the files so they can be looped and used as noise fillers for tracks.

The majority of contemporary blues music is based on what is termed a 12-bar format. That is, the main body of a song follows a set pattern of chords over 12 bars of music that is repeated over and over. Some songs may have several different patterns to give them a bit of variety, but the guts of the song will normally be based on a set chord pattern for every 12 bars of music. So, if someone says to you, “play a 12-bar”, this is what they are referring to.
