Henry Hirsch is credited with being the impetus behind the vintage gear movement in the recording industry that continues today. He began his career in Berlin in the late 70's as a studio musician playing the piano. After a few years he returned to New York City where he opened his first recording studio in his apartment, later moving to Hoboken, New Jersey and opening his Waterfront Studios where he recorded every band in the area and honed his engineering skills. In 1985 he met fellow musician Lenny Kravitz and they became music partners for the next 25 years. After Lenny's album "Are You Gonna Go My Way" had huge success, Henry built Lenny's Roxie Studio in Miami Florida.

Tracked by Joe on a Neve 8028 console to analog 2" tape at the legendary Sound City Studios, the drums have been taken to the next level - fully mix processed, without losing any velocity layers or resolution, Joe has EQ'd, compressed and performed his magic using the same console and equipment he uses when mixing. In addition, in a moment of evil genius, Joe patched the Kick and Snare though his classic Helios console - both through the Line Inputs to give them added warmth, and through the Mic Inputs to give a modern distorted option, offering a total of three wicked options for the Kick and Snare.

This BFD3, BFD2 and BFD Eco expansion kit was recorded via a classic Neve 80 series console, Sontec Equalizers and a Fairchild 670. Microphones used included Telefunken ELA M 251's on the Overheads and the Floor Toms, AKG C12A's on the Rack Toms & Neumann M49's on the Stereo Room.
