Sitarion Phrases is a powerful virtual electric sitar sample pack designed to harmonize tradition and innovation. Chithrinie Nirupama sampled her beautiful custom sitar built by luthier Sanjay Rikhi Ram Sharma. This library fuses the timeless characteristics of the sitar with modern advances of recording techniques and improvisation.

Virtuosity Drums is an open source (Creative Commons 0) contemporary Jazz drum kit library, performed with sticks, recorded at Virtuosity Musical Instruments in Boston, MA.

Lots of people sample classic drum kits which make familiar sounds. This is very different. Every drum in this kit is a snare. There's a relatively normal 14” snare, a deep 13” snare converted from a tom, and a giant 22” snare we constructed specifically for the purposes of sampling. Even the kick is a 20” marching band bass drum with two sets of microsnare wires under the reso head. We put this kit together specifically for the purposes of sampling it, starting with making the 22” snare and then looking for pieces to match it.

A free sample library of a giant hi-hat made up of two ride cymbals. Because we can. Six degrees of openness with bow, edge and bell hits for each, and four or five velocity layers. Chiks with four velocity layers, splashes and clutch drops with two velocity layers. Pedal return and clutch raise noises. All with four round robins. 356 total samples, additionally duplicated as another set of pitch-shifted files.

Now free, this was our first commercial sample library, which grew out of trying to find ways to sample snare drum brush techniques in a flexible way. No, nothing here is played with sticks. It also contains some unique things, especially the percussion: brushed cowbell, darbouka, djembe and bongos and a cajon used as a kick. There's also a China cymbal and a few cracked or broken cymbals.

The same bass sampled in Vengeful Bass, Meatbass and a few other times besides, this time played pizzicato at sneaky late night practice volume. The resulting sound is about as warm as double bass gets. WAV samples, SFZ mappings and Sforzando GUI.

While working on Three Tagelharpas, we also recorded this library of the bass tagelharpa played pizzicato - which is definitely not the main traditional use for any kind of tagelharpa. It was created with repetitive pulses in mind, so there are five different types of pizzicato with up to six round robins, plus percussive FX. It adds up to over 500 samples and 180 MB.

Just like Dr. Viktor Frankenstein tried to put together the best parts of various humans, Frankensnare lets you create your own snares from a wide array of acoustic snare samples, from giants the diameter of a kick drum to a tiny 10" one, and also including the mad science "sympathy snares", which are recordings of a kick drum making six snares buzz sympathetically at once. Our entry in the 2023 KVR Developer Challenge. Black And Blue Basses is a sample library of two 5-string bass guitars: a black hollowbody played with the fingers, and a blue solidbody played with a pick. Over 2000 samples adding up to more than a gigabyte.

Drums that are not nice and easy, but nice and rough! Samples of drums made by Zygmunt Szpaderski in a one-man workshop in Poland. They're big, and they've gotten kind of rusty over the decades. We matched them with an even larger floor tom made from an Estonian-made RMIF kick drum, and some nice modern cymbals. While we paid the equivalent of $111.68 for the Szpaderski kit with hardware, stands and cymbals, the Sabian ride cost more than four times as much, and we don't care - they are a good match sonically.

We teamed up with acclaimed sound practitioner René Jenkins to bring you a fantastic catalog of indigenous Central American drone flutes, in the Mayan, Aztec and Zapotec traditions. René performed with six of his favorite 2, 3 and 4-chambered flutes at the giant cathedral-like St Paul's Church in San Francisco. We recorded improvised melodic phrases in meticulous detail, perfect for cinematic compositions, game scoring, atmospheric songwriting, folk music and creative sound design.

In this class we will look at the basics of understanding the Arrangement view of Ableton Live Lite 11. In lesson 1 we will look into how to go into the preferences menu so that we can set up the input and output of the audio, set up your midi controller to work with Ableton, and understanding the folders where your samples will be accessed by Ableton and turning on and off the warp feature.
