Since the 1980's, the Bay Area has held it's own special place in hip hop music. In the same way that New York City is known for boom bap, and Atlanta is known for trap, the Bay Area is known for Hyphy. When rapper E-40 released his single "Tell Me When To Go" featuring Keak Da Sneek, it exposed much of the world to sub-culture that had already been growing for decades.

When it comes to creating new dimensions and sounds by infusing several different genres of music, there is no debate that the Neptunes (Chad Hugo, and Pharrell Williams) have mastered this art like none other.
