Rather than using traditional digital oscillators, Polygrade uses waveforms recorded from hardware synthesizers. These are then recorded and degraded via tape cassette machines, before being housed within Polygrade. Presets use a variety of input samples, designed to further enhance the tape sound.

Found Sound Nation presents this sample pack of Colombian guitar and gaita, played by composer and producer Niño Lento es Fuego. Warbling electric guitar with pulsating tremolo and slapback echoes and tender acoustic guitar are performed alongside Colombian gaita, an ancestral wooden flute descended from indigenous tribes. Recorded at Niño Lento’s New York home studio, the pack’s adventurous playing recalls traditional cumbia and Afro-funk.

Volume 2 features several loops in the style of Huapango produced by Jose Olide and Sandra Mayorga-Martínez, featuring guitarist Vincent Pequeño, vihuelist Jason Molina, guitarronist Diego Barba, trumpeter Raúl Martínez, vocalists Roberto Mata and Janeida López, and harpist Victor Estrada, recorded at Valve Studios in Dallas Texas.
