Course Overview

Using computers to generate and evolve musical patterns and sequences is often referred to as computer-aided-composition. We will look at ways or working in partnership with the computer, a 2-way collaboration.

Start small – interactive note patterns
Modulate Length & Velocity – adding complexity to melody & rhythm
Interaction between layers by stacking and randomisation
Drums – interactive MIDI effect racks
Adding a lead – self automation with M4L devices
Review of CAC techniques. Using MIDI effect rack zones
Modulating sequencers
