Why Music Theory exams?
Developing an understanding and knowledge of music theory helps musicians at all levels to perform with sensitivity, awareness and control. My music theory course is open to learners of any age, especially those of you who are taking a Practical or Performance Grade 6, 7 or 8, as you must pass Grade 5 or above in Music Theory before you can book those exams. This is to make sure that you have the understanding you need to interpret and perform music at these higher grades.

ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory is assessed through an online exam
Exams are available on-demand. There are no booking periods or set dates so you can choose when to book and when and where to take your exam. From the date of booking you have 28 days to log in to your ABRSM account and take your exam.

You can take your exam in any suitable location where you have access to a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and an internet connection.
