The Workshop Outline

Sound and Human Hearing
In this introductory part, we will go through some timeless principles that form the foundation of all arrangement, chords, and mixes. We will discuss how these principles dictate which chord voicings work and not, how we should structure our arrangements, how to properly double and layer instruments for a grandiose sound, and the biggest issues we might face when doing so.

‍The 3 Killers Of A Big Orchestration
In this main part of the workshop, we will go through the three biggest killers of a majestic, clear and powerful orchestration. You will learn about big mistakes that are easy to make, how we can avoid them, and learn about versatile techniques and principles to keep in mind in order to write effective chord progressions and orchestrations. When you get these 3 things right, it is hard not to end up with a clear, balanced, and powerful arrangement – but as soon as one of them are neglected, things tend to collapse easily. In this section you will learn how to identify and rectify any of these issues, in any track, any time.

‍Step By Step: From Muffled To Massive Orchestration
In the final part of the workshop, we will apply everything we have learned to an actual orchestration that has a lot of problems in it, and show you how to fix it step by step. We will go from a muffled and chaotic arrangement, to a balanced, powerful, and massive orchestration in the end – all in realtime while you are able to ask questions.
