Immerse yourself in the world of Marco Sfogli and his personal approach to playing guitar with The Marco Sfogli Masterclass. For the first time at JTC Guitar, the Italian takes us through - in great detail - his daily practice routine so that you can use your guitar practice time wisely. In addition to better practice technique, this Masterclass looks at how to take your pentatonic playing to new horizons whilst always focusing on melody and serving the song. You’ll learn Marco’s own approach to techniques such as alternate picking, legato and tapping - you’ll also learn how to expand on your current chops and master playing ‘in the pocket’. This is for players needing some melodic inspiration who are perhaps stuck in a rut with their guitar playing.

Warm-Up
You’ll work through a variety of lessons and exercises that Marco personally uses to get both his hands ready for playing. This is a hugely important part of Marco's approach to playing.

Legato
Let Marco guide you through a lesson on mastering legato before moving into a mix of exercises involving some basic shapes, slides, stamina patterns, triplets and string skipping.

Alternate Picking
As is the case with the legato section, there are five exercises to work on here with your alternate picking, including some horizontal shapes, a two-string sequence, crosspicking, melodic Sus2 shapes, before finishing by mixing some arpeggios and scales as only Marco Sfogli can.

Tapping
Dive into the world of tapping with the following exercises that incorporate tapping, including the major 7th, major 6th and major 9th arpeggios and then the minor 7th shape. You’ll learn some tapping scales before Marco teaches you how to mix the techniques.

Rhythm
Unlike most guitar lessons, this one teaches you some right hand technique with an in-depth lesson on Marco’s own rhythmic approach. The lessons include incorporating strumming odd time signatures, shifting accents and shifting subdivisions.

Melody
Marco is always asked: ‘How do you write melodies?’ This is where he answers. In this incredible lesson, he talks about suspended tones and suspended intervals before pulling it all together alongside a backing track.

Tone
In this lesson, Marco explains his thinking behind tone, dialling it in, before then playing along to a backing track to showcase two very different tones and how they both set the mood.

Solos
There are six solos to learn here, each with in-depth lessons where Marco goes deep into the arrangement, song structure, chord choice and how he approaches each track. After taking it all in, you get the backing tracks to work out your own arrangement so you can put everything you have learned together.
