Udemy Mathrock for the Modern Guitarist

Udemy Mathrock for the Modern Guitarist

From the single-coil supremacy of the Telecaster comes the 2nd installment in the Midwest emo/Mathrock Guitar series! The Lessons in this chapter revolve around the unique music composed by Pineapple Guitarist that portrays aggressive mathy riffs with extended fingerstyle techniques. Perfect for the upper Intermediate guitarist looking to learn a similar approach to that of bands like CHON, Dance Gavin Dance and Covet

In the 1st chapter we studied 6 simple riffs that introduced us to the basics of mathrock and midwest emo ideas. This course has been in the works for over a year and expounds upon the song writing and application of what we learned in the last course with a heavier rock influence.

Characteristics included are 5 different tuning examples: DAEGAE, FACGCE, DADGAD, DAEABE and even Standard.

Traditional Mathrock is the embodiment of unusual time signatures. In this series we'll take a large inspiration from the contemporary scene. Bands like Covet and DGD which feature characteristics of abstract chord structures with lead licks. Combining this subgenre with midwest emo opens the possibility for greater creative expressions that typically resembles a more clean twinkly aesthetic!

In these progressions I've taken the liberty of teaching the simple concepts through an advanced approach. We're going to learn how to critically think through the chords and melodies by stretching our technical abilities. Full song tutorials included: Sonic Heroes, Ancestors, Hereafter, Pumpkin Spice
