Dorico is a powerful music notation program from Steinberg that's capable of incredibly complex and expressive scores. Like most notation programs, however, there's a bit of a learning curve, especially if you want to become proficient on it. We've got you covered at Groove3, as Doug Zangar has created an in-depth Dorico tutorial series that will have you well on your way to becoming a Dorico expert! Whether you want to create simple lead sheets or full orchestral scores, this course is the place to start. These videos are designed for new Dorico users.
Doug begins by introducing you to the Hub, Dorico's start page, before taking you on a tour of the interface, which examines various modes, menu items, and tabs. Then you'll learn about the preferences available, including general categories like color and more specific categories like note input, key commands, MIDI, and more.
Next up is an exploration of the Setup mode, which is where you specify the number and types of instruments, their order, the score name, and much more. The Flows panel and Project Info window are covered as well, with which you can segment your score into different movements, songs, etc., among other things.
There's plenty more as well, including Write mode (project setup, note input, note editing, dynamics, playing techniques, properties panel, text input, etc.), Engrave mode (graphic editing, system breaks, frame breaks, note spacing, etc.), Play mode (Key Editor, Piano Roll Editor, Mixer, etc.), and Print mode (layouts, print options, graphics files, etc.).
The individual descriptions below will provide more information on each Dorico video tutorial and help make it clear how this course will get you up and running confidently with Dorico. Get ready to see your music in a whole new light... watch "Dorico Explained®" now!
