Ask Video Arturia V 105 Synthi V Explored
Arturia’s Synthi V is a spot-on recreation of the analog Synthi AKS by British manufacturer EMS. Join Synth Expert Rishabh Rajan in this course, and learn the infinite sound design possibilities of this inspiring and unique instrument!
EMS synths were used on classic recordings such as Pink Floyd’s “On the Run”, Jean-Michel Jarre’s “Oxygene”, David Bowie’s “Heroes”, and the Dr. Who theme (by Ron Grainer). Arturia’s Synthi V recreates the EMS Synthi AKS, complete with its flexible (but intimidating) pin matrix and unusual Envelope Shaper. This powerhouse synth can look complex, but don’t fret… our synth expert Rishabh Rajan is here to demystify it!
The course begins with an overview of the different modules and an explanation of the color coding used on the interface. After looking at the preset browser and explaining how to create a default patch, Rishabh dives deep into the heart of the synth, where all new patches begin: the Pin Matrix. Next, he reveals all about the VCOs section, where you discover everything about the oscillators, including the Noise Generator and Oscillator Sync functions. All sections of the synth are clearly explained and demonstrated: the Filters, the Ring Mod, the Envelope Shaper, the Trapezoid, the Spring Reverb, the Sequencer, the on-board Joystick… The course also explores the effects and modern modulation possibilities offered in the Advanced Panel.
The Synthi V is not your regular analog subtractive synth plugin. This course, by sound designer and trainer Rishabh Rajan is the best way to master this complex and fascinating instrument!
