JuiceeIn 1988 Sony released the DAL-1000 Digital Audio Limiter. A limiter designed to master tracks for compact disc. Later it became a secret weapon for hiphop beats, drums and vocals. We simplified the controls and made it a whole lot more fun to get loud.
BodeShifterInspired by the Teenage Engineering OP1 CWO effect, we expanded on the functionality for even more fun. Unlike a pitch shifter, a frequency shifter shifts all frequencies linearly, causing the harmonic relationships between the frequencies to change, resulting in a change of timbre as well as pitch. Frequency-shifting feedback delay causes subsequent delays to keep rising or falling.
SmudgeTape has a remarkable ability to smooth waveforms at a fine level, particularly high frequencies. We took this idea beyond smoothing, and into the land of smudge.
