Aka Mapeto Scum Tape

This unconventional audio collection, released by Shizuku Kagoshima (aka mapeto), contains a staggering 171 tracks—a barrage of vocal material ranging from bizarre cries to full-throated roars. Once you start listening, you may find yourself suddenly wearing a dead-serious expression; the content is an unrelenting onslaught of crude, sexual humor.

Who, exactly, is this "Chu-yan" mentioned throughout? The mystery only deepens, but as you continue to listen, your mind begins to go numb. Voices collide, and an altered state of consciousness takes hold—a phenomenon I have never experienced through spoken audio rather than music.

It is a bleak, yet simultaneously humorous, chant—reminiscent of a hallucination glimpsed between the skyscrapers of a city. While the sound quality is far from high-fidelity, there is an addictive, compelling quality to it. For those weary of the rigid conventions of society, this collection might just serve as a small, open escape hatch.
