Moment DivinationTech, a LAN Party moment
Chicago-based artist, producer and sound designer LAN Party is known for intricate collages formed from carefully designed fragments. His obsessive attention to detail adorns the work of boundary-pushing pop artists such as Cecile Believe, Sam Austins, and Sophie Cates, as well as solo LAN Party music (which we’ll be hearing more of in 2025).
“DivinationTech is a collection of sounds rescued from the depths of tossed aside music technology, obsolete storage mediums and digital detritus,” reads the text enclosed in LAN Party’s transmission. And the pack truly sounds as such: old Yamaha samplers, obsolete PC hardware emulations, and children’s keyboards like the Casio Rapman are reborn into modern musical contexts not limited by nostalgia for vintage timbres.
“Through extensive careful manipulation these once discarded tools are resurrected, uncovering pathways to hidden spaces. Inspired by the enchanting of divination stones, this collection is intended to inspire divine visions and reveal forgotten wisdom in each digitally encoded bit.”
