Sonic Collective YAAN Thai Spirit

Made in collaboration with Sunju Hargun and Thailand Music Maker Studio, this pack showcases the sounds of Thai supergroup, ญาณ (YAAN).

Comprised of local Thai musicians searching and; experimenting for futuristic sounds with ancient instruments, YAAN celebrates Thailand’s rich musical heritage from its Chinese and Indian roots to its modern adaptation of Latin American percussion and Rock and Roll guitars. YAAN is most known for its adventurous and psychedelic improvisations that swing from dense rhythmic webs and epic orchestrations to dubbed out, otherworldly meditations. Their sound is characterized by bringing Thai drum like the klong yao and trance inducing melodies of the issan khaen (bamboo mouth organ) and phin (Thai electric lute) into harmony with a large ensemble of instruments including sitar, kora, violin, bass, guitar, flutes, and modular synthesizers.
