Irrupt Downer Discotheque

Irrupt Downer Discotheque

Sometimes you just want the disco ball to be painted with a smudge of black paint. Funky music doesn’t always need to be smiling back at you, but rather sneering at you whilst the bass lines makes the ladies shake and move. It’s a club full of techno lovers caught wearing bell-bottomed jeans, and John Travolta look-a-likes chain smoking at the bar whilst popping valium pills. It’s jaded ravers wearing jean jackets nodding their heads to music whilst trying to pretend they’re ‘just not really into it’. This is the sound inside the ‘Downer Discotheque’. A low slung and very unique take on modern day dance music. Equal parts slowed down club friendly beats and distorted instrumentation.

The sounds discovered inside ‘Downer Discotheque’ are both unique and recognizable. It incorporates the elements of the 70s funk and soul scene with modern day indie dance. The pieces are blended together with gritty basslines, pitch black tones and thumping kick drums, as well as some excellent funky licks. It’s crafted to help ensure you’re making music for when the lights are turned way down low and the vibe is moody, but truly alive.
