Sonic Collective Kyrgyz Komuz w Askat Jetigen Uulu

Found Sound Nation presents this sample pack of classical Kygyz komuz performed by Bishkek-based artist Askat Jetigen Uulu. Recorded at Nastavnik Studio in Bishkek, these recordings capture masterful komuz playing inspired by modern technique, as well as traditional melodies and dastans from Kyrgyzstan. From galloping rhythms to spiraling leads, this pack captures the delicate nuance of the Central Asian gut stringed instrument.

Askat Jetigen Uulu is a renowned Bishkek-based composer and performer of Kyrgyz traditional music. He has served as musical director for the award-winning folk theater group Ordo Sakhna and teaches traditional music at Ustatshakirt Plus. In addition to touring internationally, he has received fellowships and honors from Aga Khan Trust for Culture, Montalvo Arts and the U.S. State Department’s OneBeat program.
