The London-Athens production duo is on the vanguard of the hybrid “Afro R&B” sound and their new Sample Library “No Tears In Summer” is the peak of their vision so far: A melodious, detailed, and bouncy library of sad Afro pop and R&B.
“No Tears in Summer” doesn’t put itself into one category; it rests at the intersection of R&B, Afrobeats, and Pop. The library draws from an abundance of influences, pairing masterfully recorded R&B guitars with chameleonic filtered vocal chops, and organic Afro dance plucks with heartbreak-filled chords. What can sound rudimentary on first listen soon become catchy loops that linger on the lips.
It brings together a plethora of real instruments, analog and digital synths, vocals, and fx, all filtered through the undeniably emotional yet hopeful sound of the Catabolics. 13 original compositions, including a version with stems, mixed to perfection and ready to use.
The library lives in the genius world of contemporary artists like Omah Lay, Rema, Tems, Justin Bieber, Fireboy, Nonso Amadi, Maleek Berry, Oxlade, Ckay, Joeboy, and Drake.
“No Tears in Summer” is dedicated to the pantheon of loverboy languish, unrequited affection, delightful and depressing dalliances, and love that wanes just like summer heat on Greek island August nights.
