Characterized by a fusion of deep house, jazz, Kwaito, and Afrobeat elements, “Amapiano” loosely translates to “the pianos” in Zulu. The continuous piano melodies, deep bass, a touch of jazz, and Zulu rhythms set the Amapiano sound apart from other African Pop genres. For this Signal Path release, producer and DJ Blaq Pages acted as Executive Producer, gathering several collaborators at Sound Factory LA to lay down some Amapiano foundations while adding their own zest. You'll find synths and keys, wide percussive basslines, high-pitched piano melodies, low tempo 1990s South African house rhythms, and more. Musicians featured on this pack include SOKO7, Joshua Denńa, Gianluca Gibbons, and Kayomusiq.

anem0s has been hard at work the past few years, putting out scene-beloved sample packs from behind their unassuming bearded dragon profile pic, as well as producing for artists such as 4cf, patrick o’neill and other members of dialtone, an internet music collective they founded. While their past packs were based on pure synthesis, many of the sounds in ‘timbre tinker’ are taken from field recordings and granulated, liquified, chopped up, then reassembled - marking an evolution of their process.
